What do Advanced Windows offer?

The-Advanced-Group

Frames

Window frames are one of the biggest contributors to heat loss in domestic homes across Scotland, even for those with double glazed windows and doors installed.

At Advanced, we are making sure that this trend stops now, with the Camden frames we use in our products designed with multiple internal chambers contained within the profile system of the frame itself.

Each chamber acts as a barrier against the cold air ensuring our windows and doors achieve excellent thermal efficiency even on the coldest of winter nights.

Glazing

All our triple and double glazing units come equipped with energy reflecting glass as standard, maximising heat gain in your home by transmitting solar energy from outside whilst retaining interior warmth.

Each pane of glazed glass is connected using thermo spacer bars which reduce condensation by eliminating cold areas around the edge of the unit.

Windows-Energy-Efficiency

Energy efficiency

On average, over 20% of all heat loss from the home occurs as a result of older or poorly installed windows and doors, costing Scottish homeowners thousands of pounds in expensive home heating bills.

When choosing replacement windows or patio doors it is, therefore, essential to check that the product you are choosing has the best energy efficiency possible.

The energy efficiency of a window is measure using U-values, which take into account the frame, glass and spacer bar, with the lower the U-Value the better.

Our double glazed windows offer impressive U-values of 1.4 W/m2K (‘A’ Rated) as standard, with the option to further reduce this is 1.0 with our latest state-of-the-art insulated glass.

Our triple glazing combines 2 layers of our 1.0u to bring our insulation factor down to 0.6.

What does all this mean to a house owner?

The term U relates to the insulation provided in building products. The lower the figure, the better the insulation is. For example, a single pane window fitted 30 years ago has a U value of 6.0. Double glazing fitted 20 years ago and possibly fitted today by unscrupulous tradesmen is 3.0u. Our trade department supplies an excellent insulated glass unit providing an improvement of more than double at 1.4u.

For customers who want to super insulate there properties , we have sourced a glass that more than triples the insulation registering the insulation at 1.0u.

Finally, we can provide triple glazing for customers who want nothing but the best.

This glass will blow your mind!

It absolutely highlights the amount of heat lost out to the atmosphere. From single glazing to triple glazing, we will reduce the u value from 6.0 to 0.6. With 6.0 and 3.0 glass, so much heat escapes that the outer layer of glass remains dry or clear on cold or frosty days.

With our 1.0 and 0.6 glass units, virtually no heat escapes; therefore, the outside layer of glass will remain freezing and can show frost or moisture until the heat of the day clears it .
With these turbocharged units, you save so much more of your precious energy and helps to reduce your bills.

By carefully designing every component to create the most energy efficient unit possible product, having new windows and doors installed by one of our highly skilled fitters, could reduce your home heating bill by as much as 40%.

Security

When installing windows and doors, the safety of your home and your loved ones is top of the priority list.

Our frames are tough, robust, and durable, developed using innovative design and the latest manufacturing techniques to maximise security.

All frames are fully welded to create a strong and secure frame structure and a consistency of finish.

The glass itself is also internally glazed, adding an extra level of security by ensuring that the glazing bead cannot be removed from outside the property.

To create an even more secure unit, glass can be toughened or laminated to suit your own personal requirements.

During the production process, strict quality control procedures and checks were conducted to help create the strongest and most secure product possible.

Safety and security are of utmost importance here at Advanced, and we go above and beyond most double glazing companies to ensure the quality of our products.

Only high performance multi-point locking systems are fitted to our windows and doors which also come equipped with strong hinges and quality handles as standard. All the hardware components within the units are salt spray tested for 600 hours (3 times the industry standard) to ensure the long-term durability of the product.

Tilt and Turn Windows

Our tilt and turn windows, are a variation to traditional casement windows with the advantage of coming fitted with an innovative hinge system and additional safety and operational features.

When placed in the ’tilt’ position the top of the window will be tilted inwards to allow for better airflow and increased ventilation whilst in the ‘turn’ position the window will open up to a full 90 degrees inwards from the side.

This adaptability allows for the easy cleaning of the window, both inside and out, and means that when in the turn position the window can be used as a suitable fire escape.

French Windows

Operating in a similar manner to French doors, French windows are a stylish and versatile addition to any home.

With two separate openings, French windows offer excellent flexibility with the ability to open either one of the windows or both, at any one time.

By opening both windows to the fully open position you will maximise ventilation and create a usable fire escape option.

Casement Windows

A classic window option, and for good reason.

Casement windows are the most popular window design in the UK, thanks to their superb versatility and protection against adverse weather.

Casement windows tend to be the most energy efficient option for most homes and can be hinged either from the side, or the top, depending on your preference and the needs of your property.

Designed to suit any house type, our casement windows are available in a huge range of different styles and finishes.

Sustainability

Sustainability in manufacturing has never been more important and all our products are designed to meet the demands of the current climate crisis without the quality or performance suffering.

Carbon Emissions

We are all looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and installing double glazing is recognised as one of the most effective ways for homeowners to become more energy efficient.

The multi-chambers within our unit frames not only save you money by reducing heat loss but by having your home heating system on for a shorter period of time you will also significantly reduce your reliance on greenhouse gases.

By installing triple or double glazing uPVC windows with Advanced, you could reduce the frame carbon emissions in your home by up to 70%.

Reduced Waste

During the manufacturing process, the windows and doors that we offer are manufactured using innovative production methods that effectively eliminate material waste.

80% of all our uPVC frames are constructed from recycled materials and by processing waste material in a recycling facility instead of landfill up to 150 tonnes of waste could be saved from going directly to the landfill.

Frequently
Asked Questions

1. What sets apart "sash" windows from "casement" windows?

Sash windows are characterized by their traditional design, featuring a vertical sliding motion. On the other hand, casement windows offer greater flexibility with openers that can be pushed out or tilted in.

2. Do timber effect sash windows closely resemble real timber?

Our uPVC timber effect windows boast high-quality custom-made decorative finishes, providing a remarkably realistic appearance. We meticulously match these windows to existing frames, ensuring they are virtually indistinguishable from real timber, even at a distance.

3. What is the typical installation time for windows and doors?

The installation duration varies depending on site conditions and complexity. Generally, a two-person installation team can complete three to six windows per day.

4. Who installs your windows?

We exclusively deploy our fully trained and accredited in-house installers for all our projects.

5. Will removing window and door frames impact wiring or electrics in my home?

Typically, this is not an issue. However, if wiring is encountered during installation, work may be paused until a qualified electrician ensures a safe working environment.

6. Can burglars easily gain entry by removing the glass from your windows?

No, our Premier range features internally glazed windows, preventing the removal of glass from the outside unless it is broken. Glass removal can only occur from the inside.

7. Do your windows offer child safety features?

Certainly, we offer various safety and security solutions tailored to your needs. Our team will recommend the most suitable options at competitive prices.

8. Is cleaning obscure or decorative glass challenging?

No, as the pattern is on the inside of the pane, the outer surface of obscure or decorative glass is smooth, facilitating easy cleaning.

9. Do you have sash windows that tilt inwards for cleaning?

Yes, we offer such windows; however, sash horns cannot be included as they interfere with the tilting frame.
